AKEP may reject the domain registration if the information provided by the registrant is inaccurate or incomplete. Additionally, if your domain name is classified as a reserved or prohibited name according to AKEP regulations, the domain registration may be rejected. Our domain registration system automatically processes your registration application. Once you complete your domain bill payment, our system automatically sends your domain.al registration request to the registry.

According to the .al domain regulations, the AKEP Registry (https://akep.al/) may take up to 3 business days to approve your domain registration request. During this period, the registry verifies:

1. The registrar’s data is complete,
2. The domain name is not a reserved word or a registered trademark.
3. Domain.al registration usually takes 24 hours to be approved. However, there are cases when approval can take more than 3 days. If you would like to expedite the .al domain registration process, please open a ticket or contact us.

Can we register domains in .com.al and similar third-level .al domains?

The following rules apply to third-level domains:

1. The company ID field is mandatory.
2. .com.al requires the company registration certificate as an additional document. Only a Limited Liability Company or a Commercial Person can have legal status.
3. .org.al requires as an additional document the license showing the company ID. Only a Limited Liability Company can have legal status.
4. .edu.al requires a license from the Ministry of Education in Albania as an additional document. Only a Limited Liability Company or Public Entity/Organization can have legal status.
5. In some cases, the Registry (AKEP) may request an identity card. This mainly happens in cases where the domain is a trademark.

.al domains can be active for a maximum period of 10 years. This means that during registration, the domain can be registered for a period of up to 10 years. However, domain renewal can be done for a maximum period of 9 years.
