1. Domain.al Rules

1.1 By accepting these conditions, the applicant acknowledges that he is familiar with AKEP Regulation No. 2 dated 21.02.2008 “On the registration and administration of .al domains and subdomains under .al and its amendments”, and under legal responsibility, he agrees to comply with the requirements arising from it. NOTICE! Declaring false data or submitting forged documents for registration constitute crimes of forgery or use of forged documents, provided for by Article 186, 189 or 191 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania.

1.2 Definition of domain usage:
By accepting these terms, the applicant acknowledges that if he does not put the domain into use within a period of 1 year from the date of registration and renewal, then the domain will become available for other registrars to purchase.

1.3 Trademarks and Patents:
The applicant must consult the official website of the General Directorate of Industrial Property to see if the domain he is registering is not a “Trademark” listed on the official website of the DPPI. If the domain belongs to a trademark belonging to a third party, the applicant agrees to release and give up this domain within 30 days of notification losing any right to appeal or any request for compensation, if the same domain name is claimed to be owned by the legal owner of the trademark, patent, industrial design. Note: Institutions and other public state entities and any other international institution to which the Republic of Albania has joined, is a member or observer, or in any other capacity, etc.. are excluded from the conditions of points 1.2 and 1.3

1.4 Important instructions and rules:
Please read carefully to successfully register your .al domain:

1.4.1 The domain applicant must provide accurate contact information even if a unique identifier is required (e.g., business registration for companies, personal identifier for individuals). If incorrect information is provided, the domain will be rejected by the Registry.

1.4.2 The Personal Identification Number, which is on the registrant’s ID card or passport, must be correct and correspond to the country that the applicant has marked in the field of Place of residence.

1.4.3 The applicant’s address must be accurate and fully detailed, including: street name and number, building name and number, entrance number, floor number, apartment number or other details if any. Failure to provide a complete and detailed address will result in the Registry rejecting the domain registration. The address field must not contain special characters. Only letters, numbers and commas are allowed. The postal code must not contain blank spaces.

1.4.4 The telephone number and mobile number provided by the applicant must be accurate and correspond to the location that the registrar has entered in the Location field.

1.4.5 The domain you are searching for must not be in the banned domain names or reserved domain names.

1.5 General rules:
1.5.1 The applicant for a .al domain may be an entity (natural person, business, or other organization) that is or is not based in Albania.

1.5.2 For registrations in the subdomains “.com.al, .org.al, .net.al, .edu.al,” an Albanian applicant must first prove that they belong to the relevant category of organization in Albania.

1.5.3 The applicant must attach his application with supporting documentation proving compliance with the conditions set out by the Albanian Registry Regulation (AKEP), if requested by the latter.

1.6 What are the restricted documents in the .al zone?

1.6.1 The registration of .al domains is regulated by the document entitled: “On the registration and administration of domain names under .al and subdomains. Gov.al, Mil.al, Edu.al, Com.al, Org.al and Net.al” by the registry.

1.6.2 Articles 18 and 19 of this document define the domains that are not allowed to be registered. This includes the registration of trademarks belonging to third parties, spam activities, including viruses, hacking, and illegal activities under Albanian law, geolocation names (in Albania), technical names, etc. These articles can be found in this article of the UN in Albanian, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this matter.
