1 .AL Domain Rules

1.1 By accepting these conditions, the applicant acknowledges that he is familiar with AKEP Regulation no. 2 dated 21.02.2008 “On the registration and administration of .al domains and subdomains under” .al “e as amended and under legal responsibility, he agrees that he will implement the requirements arising from it.
ATTENTION! The declaration of false data or the presentation of falsified documents for registration, constitute crimes of falsification and / or use of falsified documents, provided by Articles 186, 189 or 191 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania.

1.2 Setting the domain to use:

By accepting these conditions the applicant agrees that in case he does not put the domain into use for a period of 1 (one) year from the date of registration / renewal, then the domain will be released and be free for other registrants to buy it.

1.3 Trademarks and Patents:

The applicant should consult the official website of the General Directorate of Industrial Property to see if the domain he is going to register is not a “Trademark” listed on the official DPPI Website. If the domain belongs to a trademark that belongs to a third party, then the applicant agrees to release / waive this domain within 30 days of being notified, losing any right to appeal or any claim for compensation, if the same domain name is claimed or will be required to be owned by the lawful owner of the trademark / patent / industrial design.

    • Note: Other state Public Institutions and Entities and any other international institutions to which the Republic of Albania is a party, has acceded, ratified, is a member, or observer, or in any other capacity, etc., are exempted from the conditions of points 1.2 and 1.3.

1.4 Important instructions and rules:

Please read carefully in order to successfully register your .al domain:

1.4.1 The applicant of the domain, should provide correct contact information and if required, a unique identifier (e.g. business registration for companies, personal identifier for individuals). If incorrect data is provided the domain will be refused by the Registry.

1.4.2 Personal ID number, found in the identity card or passport of the registrant should be correct and should correspond with the country provided by the applicant in the Country field.

1.4.3 The address of the applicant should be correct and fully detailed containing: Street name/number, Building name/number, Entrance number, Floor number, apartment number or further details if available. Failing to provide your fully detailed address will result in a refusal of domain registration by the Registry. Address field should not contain special characters. Only letters, numbers and comma are allowed.

    • ZIP code should not contain any blank spaces.

1.4.4 Telephone/Mobile number provided by the applicant should be correct and should correspond to the Country that the Registrant has provided in the Country’s field.

1.4.5 The domain that you are looking for should not be in forbidden domain names or in reserved domain names

1.5 General Rules:

1.5.1 Applicant of an .al domain can be an entity (physical person, business or other organization) based or not in Albania.

1.5.2 For registrations in subdomains “.com.al, .org.al, .net.al, .edu.al”, an Albanian applicant has to prove first that he belongs to the corresponding organization category in Albania.

1.5.3 The applicant has to accompany his application with supporting documentation proving the fulfilment of the conditions set by the Albanian Registry (AKEP) Regulation, if required by the latter.

1.6 restricted domains in the .al zone?

1.6.1 The registration of .al domains is regulated under the document titled: “On the Registration and Administration of Domain Names under .AL and subdomains. Gov.al,. Mil.al,. Edu.al,. Com.al,. Org.al and. Net.al” by the registry. (Unfortunately this document is not in English, we will be please to provide you a copy and help you with any questions you might have)

1.6.2 Article 18 and 19 of this document define the domains which are not allowed for registration. This includes registering trademarks owned by third parties, spamming activities including viruses and hacking tools, activities illegal under Albanian law, geolocation names (in Albania), technical names etc. These articles can be found in this KB article in Albanian and we will be pleased to answer any question you might have in this regard.
